Diversity among us

“For example, I find it very funny when people tell me “Happy Cinco de Mayo” and I always say, “well what is Cinco de Mayo” because I don’t know and now I know it is a Mexican holiday, but they don’t understand that we are not all Mexicans…that there is a large mixture of people within our group, that we are white, black, Chinese, Jewish, Islamic, Christians…”

Message to Bloomington

“That people see us as equals, that we are similar, that we work, we care about the city in which we live, that I am here in Bloomington and I’m not going anywhere—this is my city and I want it to continue to be a better place.”
